Yerusalem, The Incredible Story of Ethiopian Jewry
This documentary film tells the story of the Ethiopian Jewish community, known throughout history by many names—derogatorily called “Falashas” in Ethiopia, “Black Jews” in the United States, and today “Ethiopian Jews” in Israel. But to themselves, they are Beta Israel, the House of Israel. Descendants of an ancient Jewish tribe, they preserved the laws and traditions of Judaism for over 2,500 years, believing they were the last Jews on earth. Only at the dawn of the 20th century, through the determination of a few visionaries, were ties renewed with the wider Jewish people—marking the beginning of the great exodus of Ethiopian Jews to Israel.
