Wedding Night

Wedding Night

Wedding Night (Leil Clulot) is an intimate and visually poetic documentary by Rachel Elizur that delves into the most private and pivotal moment in ultra-Orthodox Jewish life—the wedding night. Through confessional audio testimonies, separated from their visual counterparts, the film explores the emotional and psychological journey of brides and grooms who meet as near-strangers and are expected, within hours, to transition from total separation to intimate union. Set against the backdrop of Bnei Brak’s bustling wedding halls, Wedding Night paints a haunting, reflective portrait of tradition, modesty, and the deeply human search for connection within a rigid religious framework.
