This documentary follows Bobby, who shortly after his father’s death returns to England and uncovers an old suitcase filled with documents revealing the story his father never told — of escaping to England and the family he lost in the Holocaust. Seeking help, Bobby turns to Manuel, his German-born childhood friend, to translate the papers. But Manuel, too, carries a heavy legacy: he has recently discovered that his great-uncle was Veit Harlan, the notorious Nazi film director behind Jew Süss, one of history’s most infamous pieces of anti-Semitic propaganda. Together, they confront the tangled threads of memory, guilt, and friendship.
