41m
Yehuda leaves his late friend’s body on the floor of his empty house and heads north for what he believes is a long awaited meeting with a prominent intellectual who agreed to review his book. On the way, he picks up a hitchhiker who steals his jeep and cellphone. When he finally arrives, he discovers there was never any meeting. His wife, who claimed to be abroad, orchestrated a surprise seventieth birthday party for him at a bed and breakfast with their extended family. Panic sets in. The next morning he is supposed to return home with his wife, where Avishai’s body is still lying on the floor. Yehuda frantically urges his friends to remove the body while he tries to delay his return. In desperation, he fakes a heart attack and is taken to a local hospital, only to learn that although it was not a real attack, his health is in serious decline. His wife insists they return home for further treatment. On the way back, Yehuda confesses that he has been pretending to be vegan, admits that Avishai is dead, and asks for a divorce. Shocked and devastated, his wife drives away. When Yehuda finally enters the house, he finds Zohara and Amos waiting in disbelief. Avishai’s body has vanished.
