Ali Dromi was born with the state, in a moshav that became Zionist mythology. His grandfather Yosef, a man of the Russian steppes who inspired a character in “A Russian Novel,” was the kind of person who would run straight into a cloud of bees, nearly die and rise again just to tell the story.
Ali’s children have moved into high tech, but he preserves, with endless care and devotion, the beekeeping craft he learned from his grandfather, along with the breathtaking tales of that heroic generation.
In this episode of Man/Land (Adam/Adama), Shlomi Shaban and Hedai Offaim take a roots journey through Nahalal. They discover the secret lives of bees, fill the valley with piano melodies and the scent of spiced honey, and try to find out whether Shlomi can make it through the episode without getting stung.
