“I remember the escape home. My legs gave out from fear, my muscles were not functioning. I was walking and shaking,” says Guy Mazig, recalling the kidnapping attempt he survived in Lod as a child. “He was probably a Muslim Arab who infiltrated Israel. He tried to drag me and a friend to an illegal village. We resisted and somehow escaped, literally with a large stone I threw at his head and with a torn shirt.”
In this episode of Song of Hope, Mazig returns to his childhood streets of Lod and shares how a meeting with the female observers from Nahal Oz reignited his faith in people. He performs a moving and personal rendition of “Otherwise I Wouldn’t Sing” by Ehud Manor and Hanan Yovel.
