Prisoners Of War

10 Episodes

Season 1 - 10 Episodes
Season 2 - 14 Episodes (Coming March 12th)

The dramatic best seller that inspired the Emmy winning series Homeland.
Winner of nine Israeli Academy Awards in 2010, including Best Drama and Best Director.

Seventeen years ago, an Israeli reserve unit was sent deep into Lebanon on a covert mission to capture a senior terrorist. The operation failed. During the rescue attempt, three soldiers were left behind and captured. Years later, after prolonged secret negotiations, they are returned in a prisoner exchange. Two come home alive. One returns in a coffin.
Prisoners of War opens with the return of the two surviving soldiers, now national symbols whose faces and names have filled Israel’s streets for years. Their homecoming is both a moment of celebration and deep unease.
As they attempt to reintegrate into Israeli society, the series explores the personal cost of captivity. They must reconnect with wives who waited or moved on, children they barely know, parents who have died, and a country that continued without them while they remained frozen in time.
Soon after their return, military debriefings and psychological interrogations raise troubling questions. Inconsistencies in their testimonies suggest they are hiding a secret. A covert investigation begins to uncover who they have become and what truly happened during their years in captivity.
The series unfolds across three timelines. The present following their return. The past before their capture. And flashbacks from captivity that gradually reveal the truth they are trying to conceal.
