This haunting documentary film explores Warsaw’s Muranow neighborhood, once the site of the largest Jewish ghetto during World War II. Beneath its spacious streets and green courtyards lie the ruins of buildings and the unremoved remains of thousands of Jews buried under the rubble. The new neighborhood, built directly on top of this destruction, bears the same name and street signs, yet has severed almost all ties to its tragic past. Legends tell of ghosts who rise at night to reclaim what was once theirs, while some residents speak of real encounters and others see them as metaphors for a buried culture and memory. Muranow reveals the unsettling distance between a thriving modern neighborhood and the human tragedy that lies just beneath its surface.
