Ma’abarot is the first documentary film to thoroughly explore the story of Israel’s transit camps (1948–1952), where hundreds of thousands of immigrants from across the globe were housed on their way to becoming part of the young state. Though this period shaped Israeli society to this day, it has largely faded from public memory.
