Zoltan Toman was the Czech Deputy Minister of the Interior from 1945 to 1948. He is credited with saving more than 200,000 Jewish refugees, most survivors of the Holocaust from the treacherous environment in post-war Poland, as well as with helping Israel secure Czech weapons used to fight the 1948 War of Independence.
