This documentary film begins with a discovery: after her grandmother’s death, the director finds an old photograph inscribed “A week after abortion.” Knowing her grandmother could not conceive and had adopted her father, she embarks on a journey with no clear destination. Along the way, she uncovers the existence of her biological grandmother - an Iraqi immigrant who became pregnant out of wedlock. As family secrets unravel, the film reveals a wider system of patriarchal oppression, compelling the director to confront and break the silence linking three generations of women.
