A Lullaby For the Valley
Documentary Films • 1h 14m
Eli Shamir paints the views from his studio – endless farm fields, ancient oaks and a generation of farmers disappearing from the Jezreel Valley. His large oils are prized by collectors worldwide. A chance encounter with one painting leads director Ben Shani to begin documenting Shamir at work. Neither could know that serious disease would change everything, threatening to deprive Shamir of his talent. Filmed over the course of nine years, "Lullaby For the Valley" centers around the fascinating figure of Shamir and his creations which, like the broad valley vistas, gradually change shape before our very eyes.
