An award-winning gripping drama by Guy Amir and Hanan Savyon.
“Asfur” – in Arabic: a bird. In Jerusalem slang: a hopeless case, someone with no shot in the world…
The series takes place on the outskirts of Jerusalem, in an industrial zone tucked between garages and a small valley. At the center of this forgotten area lie three wrecked buses. What looks like a junkyard is actually the “kingdom” of our heroes—Moti Amoyal and his crew. They’re a group of scrappy Jerusalem men from the “hood,” who’ve decided to say screw it to the world and drop out of the rat race.
In their tiny kingdom, inside refurbished buses, they live without taxes, bank accounts, national insurance—or any BS. They make a living under the table, smoke their days away in green and brown, dream in pink, and sway in life’s hammock… until someone cuts the rope.
Their story begins on a bright day, when out of nowhere, a bombshell drops, forcing them to ditch the bong, get out of the hammock, and start fighting for their lives. No resources. Slim chances. Just a few against many. If they win, they’ll be filthy rich. If they lose… it’s game over.
Asfur is a raw and real series, based on true characters, infused with the flavors of Jerusalem—sex, crime, drugs… and buses.
