40 Steps
In this documentary film, a new municipal school—My Neighborhood—opens in South Tel Aviv to serve a diverse community, including children of African refugees. To make space, the city controversially clears part of the long-standing Orthodox school Roots. Just 40 steps apart, the two schools must now coexist. Principals Shachar Feinshtein and Elior Tourgeman are tasked with leading this delicate partnership, navigating deep cultural divides, gentrification, and growing tensions in a neighborhood at the heart of Israel’s identity struggles.
